What can we expect from the economy in 2012? Many of us could benefit from knowing what experts see as the economic challenges ahead. Select NLEP investors will be invited to the NLEP Roundtable Series, open only to investors who contribute $5,000 plus. The first of three Roundtables will be held Wednesday, May 2nd, 12noon to 1:30pm in Bossier City, featuring Jason Saving, Senior Research Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. In this position, he conducts research on public policy issues. He has authored numerous articles about European economic integration, American welfare policy, Social Security, and other policy issues, which appeared in such journals as Economic Inquiry, Southern Economic Journal, Public Choice, and Southwest Economy. Savings will share his perspectives on our area’s expected vitality for 2012.
Look behind the curtain at NLEP's year-to-date activity. Kurt Foreman, NLEP President, will share insights into what NLEP is seeing as 2012 unfolds. With a significant ramp-up in inquiries in the last three months, Foreman will share NLEP's strategies to capitalize on investment and job opportunities.
Special thanks to NLEP Roundtable sponsors: Ward II Industrial District of Northern Caddo Parish and Community Trust Bank. We appreciate their financial and program support of the inaugural NLEP Roundtable event for 2012.
Thursday, August 23, 2012, 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m.
Location: Ruston area
The second Roundtable will focus on workforce development issues, featuring Ron Painter, President/CEO of the National Association of Workforce Boards. Ron is a dynamic speaker and innovator among workforce experts. He helped create the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board in Pittsburgh. Under his leadership, the organization focused on producing labor market research, working with public educators on improved student career information, supporting community leaders in the development of regional benchmarks, and establishing the Regional Workforce Collaborative. The Collaborative pulled together community colleges, WIBs, employers, labor, and economic development professionals to work on labor issues.
Before joining the Three Rivers Workforce Board, he worked in Washington, DC, first on loan to the U.S. Department of Labor for the Enterprise Project, and then for the National Alliance of Business. Painter will talk about how critical workforce issues will impact our region’s and nation’s success. This Roundtable will be held in the central part of our region.
October 2012
Location: TBA
The third Roundtable is still in the works, but the event will be held in the eastern part of our region. We are focused on bringing in an economic development or site consultant to share insights in how to stay ahead of the pack as a region and communities.
Become a sponsor of the NLEP Roundtables. These sponsorship opportunities allow you to more visibly highlight your company's or organization's involvement in economic development while increasing public awareness of your brand. Sponsoring an event is also a great way to provide financial support for NLEP and economic development in North Louisiana. This target audience is top tier NLEP investors (74 investors currently) who are leaders in their field and industry sector.
Sponsorship of all three Roundtables is $2,000 or $1,000 for a single event. We are seeking at least five sponsors per Roundtable. Sponsors will be acknowledged during the program, on an event poster, in all marketing collateral and news releases. Contact Kurt Foreman at 318.677.2512 or Christine Rambo at 318.677.2531.
