NLEP’s Liz Pierre Earns Economic Development Finance Professional Certification

MONROE-SHREVEPORT, La.  ̶   NLEP Senior Vice President Liz Pierre received her certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) from the National Development Council, a nonprofit community development organization.  The EDFP certification recognizes a person’s expertise and knowledge about economic development financing, credit analysis, loan packaging and deal structuring.  Pierre directs the Legal and Research department for North Louisiana Economic Partnership (NLEP), an accredited regional economic development organization serving 14 parishes in North Louisiana.

“We’re very proud of Liz’s accomplishment in earning her EDFP certification which required her to undertake four intensive finance training courses and a comprehensive exam afterwards.  NLEP is committed to the professional development of its team.  We currently have three team members with advanced certifications and another four taking the economic development courses required to take the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) exam,” said Scott Martinez, CEcD, NLEP President.

Pierre has a combined 21 years of economic development and legal experience.  Before being a part of the NLEP, Liz worked with the Ouachita Economic Development Corporation. Prior to moving into the world of economic development, Liz was a practicing attorney, working with the 4th JDC Indigent Defenders Board and in her own law firm, Pierre & Pierre.

She earned her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center and her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Liz is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. She served as the Chair of Workforce Investment Board (WIB) Area 81.

“I feel the knowledge I’ve gained from the courses and the certification will help me better assist companies and local partners with identifying viable projects and potential financing to promote economic development in North Louisiana,” said Liz Pierre, JD, EDFP.
